Meet Rebecca Raymond - USA Program Manager

Rebecca Raymond and teamRebecca Raymond is excited to be welcomed into the Asante Africa family. She brings with her more than 12 years of experience working with children, youth, and communities both overseas and at home. Her education and clinical training includes master's degrees in Counseling Psychology (University of San Francisco) and International Social Development (University of New South Wales in Sydney, AU), both of which have focused on the positive development and education of youth and communities and has awarded her practical skills in strategic planning, networking, and creating synergy among partners across cultures and time zones.

Some of her past experience includes: securing funding and managing a culturally based after-school program for urban Native youth in Oakland, developing, assessing, and managing programs in Uganda and Kenya, and chairing the youth committee for an international conference at the Centre for Refugee Research in Sydney. She also facilitated life skills trainings for over 150 Tongan youth, acting as the lead with UNICEF and WHO on a Health Behavior and Lifestyle of Pacific Youth (HBPY) survey in the Kingdom of Tonga, and served as a technical trainer producing educational materials, procedural guidelines, and trainings for Peace Corps Tonga, FSD in-country teams, and AICRC staff.

She feels invigorated when in a foreign place – discovering new things, meeting people, and creating needed, sustainable projects. She is most excited to work with the in-country program managers to support their effort on the ground and do her part from the States side of things to ensure the students' and projects' successes.
