Tanzania Program Manager Prosper Msafiri speaks out on how educating children can change the world. An architect by trade, Prosper's experience with construction and his love for
education made him the perfect fit for Asante Africa.
"My passion is to teach; not in the classroom, but by transferring skills and knowledge. I know from experience that children are hungry to learn." As the eldest child, Prosper recalls his place as a role model for the younger children in the family. "It was expected that I would bring them along to be successful. I continue to plant seeds with my own daughter, my extended family and with Asante Africa students. Children are easily molded. They are constantly watching you to see if your words match what you do. They observe and imitate."
Prosper spends much of his time with Asante Africa scholarship students; reviewing
grades, listening to concerns and helping them stay focused on their schoolwork. In
addition, he is the liaison with the organization's Tanzania programs – from
monitoring construction progress to partnering with teachers and communities to
prioritize and apply for projects.
"We have talented youth in our country. It is only the lack of resources that hinders their path to personal development. With the alternative path that Asante Africa has given them, they will become independent adults. We will not have succeeded if we have not taught these young people how to pass along knowledge, and inspire others with the confidence and skills that they have acquired along their path."
