In Kenya and Tanzania the new 2010 school year has just begun. Thanks to many of you, 21 new students who thought the dream of education was out of reach are now sitting in the classroom, fully equipped and excited for a year of learning. Some of them have missed school for a period of time while seeking school fees to keep going to school. Others have serious family struggles slowing their pursuit of education. But as you will see, all of these students won their scholarship due to strong academics, community endorsement, and financial need.
With the addition of these newest recruits, Asante Africa Foundation now has 105 students in the full scholarship program, and another 40 students receiving partial scholar support for materials and books.
Success begets success: The success of these students create a ripple effect. Their lives touch fellow students’ lives as they raise the bar for academic standards. And then in turn the students' lives touch the family's lives that touch the community's lives. One by one we are helping to strengthen communities to address their own challenges.
