Asante Africa Foundation has volunteer opportunities for everyone. Volunteers can enhance and learn new skills, network with others and directly impact the lives of thousands of children in East Africa.

Co-Team Leader for Youth Volunteer Program (INTERNSHIP)
Location:San Francisco Bay Area
Time Commitment:2-3 hours per week
This Role will be teaming with another Co Leader to create a more active youth volunteer program than we have today. This will include learning about different effective models of engaging youth of all ages in global volunteerism as well as working with youth to create events and campaigns to raise funds and awareness of the need for global education for children everywhere.

Database Entry and Management for Scholarships/Projects
Location:San Francisco Bay Area or virtual
Time Commitment:2-4 hours per week
Individual interested in managing the projects and scholarships databases. This person would work closely with the Program Director here in the USA but the student scholarships and projects are all awarded in Kenya and Tanzania. We have a database created in FileMaker Pro (and eventually migrating to Salesforce.com) and we need an organizer to own working with other database entry persons to get all approved students and projects into the database with all current data. As we receive new incoming applications this person would work with the Program Director as to the entry and tracking processes. There are peak and low effort times depending on the school seasons in Tanzania and Kenya.

Finance Controller
Location:San Francisco Bay Area

Asante Africa Foundation is seeking a part time volunteer Finance Controller (Director of Finance) is responsible for financial analysis, fiscal management forecasting, financial planning and data collection. Fiscal management includes bookkeeping, cash flow management, financial statements, budgeting, payroll, banking, grants management, and auditing functions.

- Role and Responsibilities:

- Working with the Executive Director of each affiliates, provide overall leadership for all aspects of the organization’s financial management, planning, reporting and analysis, and setting annual budgets that guide organizational priorities and decision- making
- Working with the Account Payable/receivable team for accuracy and audit ability of our system. We are preparing for our first GAAP accounting audit and we would like mentoring and coaching and internal assessment prior o actual audit
- Monthly and quarterly accounting, financial reporting, cash-flow analysis and the yearly budgeting process
- Ensure compliance with the standards and reporting requirements of external stakeholders, including auditors, donors, foundations and other relevant entities
- Advise on banking, accounting, legal, benefits, information technology, insurance

- Experience designing and implementing financial and operational systems and processes to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of a young growing organization
- Track record of success managing and delivering results for multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment that is international in scope
- Superior analytical skills and a comfort level with strategic planning
- Flexibility combined with the ability to multi-task; comfort working in a fast-paced and growing organization, while also driving toward clarity and solutions
- Strong emotional intelligence, with the ability to listen and communicate effectively with a wide variety of internal and external constituents
- CPA, non-profit management or related field highly preferred
- Extensive working knowledge of business accounting software highly preferred; Quickbooks for Non Profits, Salesforce.com Donor management software, etc.

Grant Writer for Fundraising Team
Location:San Francisco Bay Area
Time Commitment:3-5 hours per week
Asante Africa Foundation is a small grassroots non-profit looking for an experienced grant writer who can assist us with conducting searches for possible prospects, preparing grants and submitting grant requests to available sources.
The Grant Writer is responsible for increasing support from foundations, corporations, governments, and other grant-making entities. The ideal candidate will have experience in researching funding prospects, writing grant proposals, and securing grants from private sources. The Grant Writer manages the researching of grant opportunities and the writing of grant proposals, including leading a team to consensus on what grants Asante Africa should seek, gathering appropriate data when necessary, gaining approval from board of directors for the submission of final drafts of grant proposals, and meeting grant deadlines. Additionally, the Grant Writer acts as an advisor and key resource to the board on a spectrum of fundraising opportunities.

- Research and contact foundations and institutions to obtain applications and deadline information, maintain a tickler list of upcoming application deadlines and funding files.
- Seek out and compile information around specific programs and initiatives within the foundation for which grants may be requested.
- Research, recommend, prioritize and ultimately apply for grants from a wide variety of governmental, private, and public foundations and institutions.
- Compile, write, and edit all grant applications, following each grant-making organization's guidelines.

The team leader of Marketing and Public Relations is a senior-level position responsible for the overall promoting of Asante Africa Foundation and all internal and external communications. Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate they have the abilities to strengthening our brand and the skill to enhance our positive reputation in the public and private sections of local, state and national arenas.

- Preparing, planning and implementing a coordinated marketing and public relations plan
- Identifying and initiating opportunities for effective publicity in the media
- Arranging media opportunities, serving as media spokesperson, cultivating media relationships, developing and maintaining updated media directory, and coordinating media archives
- Designing tactics to enhance organization's presence with newspaper, radio, television, online and other media outlets in the local, regional and national arenas
- Setting, reviewing and updating organizational guidelines on style (for correctness, accuracy and branding)
- Implementing and overseeing preparation of and editing all promotional materials to ensure that they fit within the marketing and public relations plan, conform with organizational style guidelines, and meet established time-lines

- Complete between 5-7 pages of website copy in 4-6 weeks cycles. This includes a variety of different types of stories, messages, letters, and campaigns.
