As everyone knows, this organization is fueled by volunteers. Earlier this month, Asante Africa Foundation held the 2nd Bay Area Fall Fundraiser and Celebration – Sunrise Over Mt. Kilimanjaro. In order for an event of this complexity to succeed without a “hitch” requires a person of many talents. A person who has big ideas, varied skills, infinite patience and great project planning abilities. That person would be Angela Hilsenbeck.
Angela joined Asante Africa in May as the Event Planning Manager for the 2010 Fall Event, an intense volunteer leadership role. She came to the organization with a passion of creating a better life for those in East Africa. She came with experience starting an International Non-Profit focused on Rwanda Genocide Victim support while she studied at University of Southern California (USC). And she came with energy to create an event that all those who attended would remember.
Over the past many months Angela has been our fearless project leader. She has pushed, pulled, sweet talked, organized, herded, directed, and finally celebrated “A Sunrise over Mt Kilimanjaro”. The photos tell the story. Angela comments “I am only as good as those around me and I had the ‘best of the best’ dedicated team leaders and members to make this event a reality”. Thank you team!!!
Asante Africa is grateful to Angela’s dedication and passion to making a difference in this global world and that she has chosen our organization as her platform.
