Because of your generous contributions in 2012, over 120 students and teachers experienced the Leadership Incubator!
The impact and effectiveness of the Leadership Incubator has been unstoppable since its inception in 2010. Two years later, the program saw its largest group of participants and returning alumni, with over 100 students from secondary schools all over Kenya and Tanzania.
The weeklong program included a series of collaborative workshops about health, career, entrepreneurial, life and leadership skills. While in the classroom, most students focus on the basic subjects of English, Math and Science; the Leadership Incubator has become a platform from which students can begin to apply knowledge and gain skills while nurturing their inner esteem. Students are encouraged to actively engage in and provide input in the workshops and the program.
An integral part of the program is challenging students to “pay it forward” into their communities. What set the 2012 Leadership Incubator apart from those of the previous years were the returning student alumni. These students, who have gone on to university, taken the path of entrepreneurship or become the fledging voices of their local communities, returned to share their stories and experiences. What can be more effective than that of the voices of their peers whose life and family experiences echo their own?
