Student Applicants are Awaiting the News – “Did I get the scholarship”
There’s a fire that burns in every young person that dares to wonder “what if?” What if I were able to be the most amazing person I could imagine being? What if I could be a doctor or scientist, maybe an artist or writer, a teacher or business owner, or maybe a great mom or livestock herder?
For some, that fire is fueled, and protected and fanned into life so that they truly are able to follow the path that will take them to the future of their choosing. For others, despite their passion and ambition, the obstacles of opportunity and resources are sand on the flame, extinguishing it before it can even shine beyond their days in early primary school.
Those of us who were blessed by life circumstances that allowed our flame to burn bright, or who have sacrificed that opportunity for the sake of children or other family, know how precious a gift it is to clear the path to allow the passion, ambition and intelligence of a child to light their way along their path.
Student Applicants are Awaiting the News
As the school year America reaches the halfway mark, and high school seniors are sending off the last of their college applications, the school year in East Africa is about to begin. Young people throughout Tanzania and Kenya have applied for scholarship, and are eagerly awaiting news that we have received enough donations to fund their education for the year. You can make it happen with your commitment to sponsor a child through the next school year.
A donation of $700 for the school year (or $58 a month) includes the following support for 1 child:
- Tuition and Exam Fees— $220
- School Supplies— $20
- Boarding Fees— $225
- Books — $45
- Food — $75
- Uniforms and Shoes — $60
- Personal Items — $55
Our Work is Working
The Asante Africa scholarship program begins with Grade 4 and continues through high school. For the 2010 school year our donors funded more than 125 scholarships in Kenya and Tanzania. For the first time we will see more 12 students graduate from high school, and 5 are going on to university or other college training. They are growing into young leaders who now have the knowledge and tools at their fingertips, thanks to the support of sponsors who believed in them.
Your generosity and belief in fueling change and improving lives through education will go a long way in empowering people to gain the freedom to live the life of their choice, find solutions to the challenges they face, and to be a “concentrated” drop in the ocean of change for our global community.
Fuel the Flame for Another!!
As we enter the season of giving thanks, exchanging gifts, and making resolutions for the new year, we can ask ourselves how we might fuel our own flame to be the best person we can be. We hope you will consider lighting the way for a student through education, and provide a scholarship that will change their life, and yours.
